Mamata Banerjee inaugurates Rs. 450 crore Dhana Dhanya Auditorium in Kolkata

The grand inauguration of the Dhana Dhanya Auditorium took place today in Alipore, Kolkata. The auditorium, built at a cost of Rs. 450 crore, was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee.

The construction of the auditorium began in 2018 but was stalled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The work resumed in 2021 with the efforts of about 600 workers who worked tirelessly day and night to complete the construction.

The design of the auditorium is entirely the idea of the Chief Minister, and the works department was responsible for its construction. The auditorium boasts a banquet hall, mini-auditorium, street theater corner, multipurpose hall, and the 6th floor. The iron structure inside the auditorium is shaped like a conch shell, covered by a sheet of precious zinc imported from Germany. Special lights from Japan have been installed in the auditorium, capable of displaying 33,000 different colors.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries and officials.

The Chief Minister expressed her delight at the completion of the auditorium and praised the hard work of the workers who were involved in its construction.

The Dhana Dhanya Auditorium is expected to become a prominent cultural landmark in Kolkata and a hub for artistic events and performances.
